Greaves Electric Mobility, a division of Greaves Cotton, has secured approval from the Heavy Industries Ministry for incentives under the Union Government's Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024.
The Ministry has sanctioned the registration of the company's two-wheeler models, Nexus, Primus, Magnus, and Zeal, under the EMPS scheme, which qualifies them for the government's EV demand incentive program. Greaves Electric Mobility indicated that its three-wheeler business, through its subsidiary, is already eligible for similar incentives.
The EMPS initiative, initially launched in April and extended till September 30, offers substantial subsidies for electric vehicles: up to Rs 10,000 per electric two-wheeler (e2W), Rs 25,000 per electric three-wheeler (e3W), and up to Rs 50,000 on heavier e3Ws like commercial units. This latest approval ensures that all qualifying two-wheeler models are now included, enhancing the company's capacity to drive accessible and sustainable mobility across India.
''Resuming our place in the EMPS scheme underscores our commitment to our consumers towards accessible and sustainable mobility solutions,'' said K Vijaya Kumar, Executive Director and CEO at Greaves Electric Mobility.
