Favorable monsoon conditions have brought relief to both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, according to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. He asserted that Tamil Nadu would benefit more from the Mekedatu dam project than Karnataka.

Highlighting the ample water inflows into the Cauvery river, which enabled the neighboring state to release surplus water to Tamil Nadu, Shivakumar stated that the Mekedatu balancing reservoir project would offer greater benefits to Tamil Nadu. He urged good sense to prevail among Tamil Nadu's people regarding the dam's advantages.

Shivakumar visited Chennai to study its solid waste management system and explore its biogas production facilities. He praised Chennai's approach and indicated that similar sustainable practices would be implemented in Bengaluru.
