In a significant development, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Foxconn chairman Young Liu met on Friday to explore the future of technological innovation in India and globally.
Gandhi took to social media to express his pleasure in meeting Mr. Liu, stating that their engaging conversation centered on leveraging India's tech industry for substantial advancements. "With the right support, India's tech industry can be positioned for a significant leap forward," noted the former Congress chief.
Liu, currently visiting India, was recently honored with the Padma Bhushan, the nation's third-highest civilian award, earlier this year in celebration of the 75th Republic Day. Foxconn, Apple's contract manufacturer in India, employs over 40,000 people and has investments ranging between USD 9-10 billion. The company is expanding its iPhone production, establishing a chip plant in collaboration with HCL Group, building an electric vehicle manufacturing unit, and setting up an Apple AirPods plant.
