Ukrainian Military Hits Russian Oil Depot in Kursk Region
Ukrainian forces successfully targeted a Russian oil depot in the Kursk region, in a series of attacks on oil storage and production facilities. These actions, deemed legitimate military targets, aim to counter Russia's invasion and respond to strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
The Ukrainian military reported a successful strike on a Russian oil depot in the Kursk region overnight, part of a series of recent attacks on Russia's oil storage and production facilities.
According to Kyiv, these facilities are valid military targets as they support Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine, which has now entered its 29th month. Ukrainian officials also view these attacks as retaliation for Russia's devastating strikes on Ukraine's energy system. 'According to intelligence data, a fire broke out at the enemy facility as a result of the attack,' Ukraine's General Staff stated on Facebook.
The depot, located in the Vozy settlement, was hit in a joint operation involving the Security Service of Ukraine and other forces. The acting governor of the Kursk region said on Telegram that air defenses intercepted and destroyed four Ukrainian missiles over two districts overnight.
Earlier, on Sunday, Ukraine's military claimed to have struck the Polevaya oil depot in the region, leading to a fire at three tanks due to a drone attack. The governor noted that the fire was only completely extinguished on Tuesday.
