HMD Global Unveils India-Made 'Crest' Series Smartphones with Competitive Pricing
HMD Global has announced the launch of its 'HMD Crest' series smartphones, which will be manufactured in India and exported globally. The company aims to capture the competitive Indian market with innovative, budget-friendly devices. Partnering with Dixon Technologies and Zetwerk, HMD focuses on differentiation in a challenging market.
HMD Global, the Finnish mobile devices company, has unveiled its new range of self-branded 'HMD Crest' smartphones, which will be manufactured in India and exported worldwide, said a top company official on Thursday.
Jean Francois Baril, HMD Global founder, Chairman, and CEO, confirmed in an interview that the India-produced mobile phones are highly competitive globally, even against top players in China. The 'HMD Crest' brand series features models boasting a 50-megapixel selfie camera.
Baril emphasized that the 'Crest family' is conceived and made in India, targeting both local and international markets. The company has been exporting Nokia mobile phones from India and now plans to export HMD's new smartphones as well.
Alain Lejeune, HMD Global's Chief Operating Officer, announced partnerships with Dixon Technologies and Zetwerk's Zet Town for Indian manufacturing. India's market remains HMD's largest, with new smartphone models intended to boost current production volumes.
HMD Vice President for India and APAC, Ravi Kunwar, revealed competitive pricing for the Crest smartphones, priced between Rs 10,000-20,000. He stated that market differentiation and innovation would be key to their success. The new smartphones, including the Crest and Crest Max, will launch during Amazon's 'Great Freedom Sale' and will also be available on HMD's website.
