Panasonic Avionics Corporation has opened a new software design and development facility in Pune, India, marking its first such establishment in the country. This strategic move aims to bolster the company's capabilities in creating advanced In-Flight Engagement and Connectivity (IFEC) solutions.
The facility, launched by the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, currently employs over 200 engineers, with plans to scale up to meet growing airline demands. According to Ken Sain, CEO of Panasonic Avionics, India's skilled engineering workforce and booming aviation sector make it an ideal location for this venture.
Initiated in 2021 as a 'build-operate-transfer' project, the Pune facility will enhance software innovation and design. The company also plans to collaborate with Indian universities to develop and nurture engineering talent, further solidifying its commitment to India's software development capabilities.
