BSNL Leadership Change: P K Purwar Denied Extension, Robert J Ravi to Take Over

The government has denied an extension to BSNL Chairman and Managing Director P K Purwar, with plans to appoint senior Department of Telecom officer Robert J Ravi as the new head. Purwar, who began his five-year term in July 2019, had sought an extension. Ravi brings 34 years of telecom experience to the role.

The government has decided not to extend the tenure of BSNL Chairman and Managing Director P K Purwar, according to official sources. Instead, Robert J Ravi, a senior officer in the Department of Telecom, is likely to take over the role.

Purwar, who took charge in July 2019 for a five-year term, had applied for an extension, which is yet to be decided upon.

Ravi, with 34 years of experience in the telecom sector and currently serving as Deputy Director General at the Department of Telecom, will be taking on the role for his second stint at BSNL. He previously served as an additional general manager at the state-run firm for about six years.
