Helsing's Major Investment in Estonia: Boosting AI for NATO Defense
Helsing, a German AI start-up in the defense sector, plans to invest 70 million euros in its new Estonian subsidiary over the next three years. The subsidiary aims to deploy advanced AI on NATO's eastern flank and conduct self-funded AI research, drawing lessons from the Ukraine war to meet Baltic Defense Forces' needs.

Helsing, a German AI start-up operating in the defense sector, announced on Thursday a 70 million euro investment in its newly established Estonian subsidiary over the next three years. The move is aimed at deploying advanced AI technology on NATO's eastern flank as swiftly as possible, according to CEO Gundbert Scherf.
The company plans to leverage lessons from the Ukraine conflict and engage in self-funded AI research to address the needs of the Baltic Defense Forces, Scherf elaborated. Recently, Helsing was also selected by the German defense ministry to integrate artificial intelligence tools into the country's Eurofighter jets.
