Customers are flocking to South Korean cosmetics giant AmorePacific's new AI beauty lab, where robots mix custom face products, and the latest technology suggests the perfect lipstick colors.

"Everyone has their own specific skin tone, but usually they buy the most common color available over-the-counter," commented Kwon You-jin, a 32-year-old customer. The AI service helped her discover personalized skin insights, leading to a custom-blended foundation.

Global beauty brands like L'Oréal S.A. and Sephora are also leveraging AI to tailor products to individual needs. According to Statista Market Insights, global beauty industry sales, including cosmetics, hit $625.6 billion in 2023, continuing to rise since the COVID-19 dip in 2020.

AmorePacific applies deep learning and machine learning to recommend the best options from 205 foundations and 366 different lip colors, explained engineer Lee Young-jin. Analysts believe AI could accelerate product development and reduce inconsistencies compared to human consultants.

The Business Research Company forecasts the AI-driven beauty and cosmetics market will more than double, from $3.27 billion in 2023 to $8.1 billion by 2028. Categories like personalized beauty recommendations, skin analysis, and virtual makeup artists are driving this growth.
