Google is rolling out a new update to Chat that brings improvements to the search experience. When searching in Google Chat, search terms, recent conversations in direct messages and spaces and other factors will be considered to deliver more accurate and relevant search results.

By default, search results will be sorted by relevance. However, users have the option to change the sorting criteria to "recency" by using the sort dropdown, allowing them to prioritize the most recent messages in their search results.

Further, by unselecting the "Only conversations I'm in" option at the top of the results page, users can access matching results from spaces they are not yet a part of but have the option to join. Users can preview and join these spaces directly from the search results page.

The improved Google Chat search experience is now available on the web, Android and iOS.

In parallel, introducing new requirements for bulk senders — those who send more than 5,000 messages to Gmail addresses in one day — to keep your inbox even safer and more spam-free.

Starting in 2024, Google has introduced new requirements for bulk senders to authenticate their emails, allow for easy unsubscription and stay under a reported spam threshold.

For the unversed, bulk senders are those who send more than 5,000 messages to Gmail addresses in one day.

"We aren’t the only ones pushing for these changes. Our industry partners also see the pressing need to institute them. No matter who their email provider is, all users deserve the safest, most secure experience possible. In the interconnected world of email, that takes all of us working together. Yahoo looks forward to working with Google and the rest of the email community to make these common sense, high-impact changes the new industry standard," said Marcel Becker, Sr. Dir. Product at Yahoo.

The new requirements will help ensure an even safer and more spam-free inbox.
