Google has introduced enhanced table positioning options for documents set in Pages format in Docs. These new features aim to provide users with more flexibility and control over the layout of text with tables, allowing for seamless document formatting.
One of the notable enhancements is the ability to drag tables within a document and place them directly where you want to. The update also adds the ability to wrap content around a table on a page. You can specify the wrap direction, whether it be left, right, or both sides, as well as define the margin between the table and surrounding text.
Further, Google has included the ability to set a fixed position for a table on a page.
Lastly, quick layouts allow you to instantly move a table to a preset position on a page, simplifying the process of aligning tables within a document and helping you save valuable time when formatting content.
In addition to these features, Google has made improvements to the import and export functionality for Microsoft Word documents with tables. This will ensure that when importing or exporting documents, tables retain their formatting and layout, guaranteeing consistency and minimizing the need for manual adjustments.
This additional flexibility and control in Google Docs will be available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts.
A gradual rollout of these features has already commenced for Rapid Release domains. Feature visibility will progressively become available over a span of up to 15 days. For users in Scheduled Release domains, the full rollout is scheduled to begin on June 27, 2023, with feature visibility expected within 1 to 3 days.
With these improvements, Google aims to enhance the document editing experience and provide users with more comprehensive formatting capabilities, empowering them to create visually appealing and well-organized documents in Google Docs' Pages format.
