Telegram update brings 10 new features including ability to translate entire chats in real-time
Telegram is rolling out the first update of 2023, which adds nearly a dozen of new features including a profile picture maker, emoji categories and the ability for Premium users to translate entire chats in real-time, among others.
With the latest update, Telegram users can now quickly turn any sticker or animated emoji into a profile picture for their accounts, groups or channels.
The messaging app is also introducing Emoji Categories to help users quickly choose the right emoji or sticker they wish to send. You can also hold any emoji to zoom in and get a better look before sending it to your contacts.
"Telegram users can send more than a million different stickers and emoji, but choosing the right one doesn't have to be a full-time job," the company said in a statement.
Next up, Telegram premium users can now translate entire chats, groups and channels in real time by simply tapping the Translate bar at the top. Non-Premium users can also translate individual messages by selecting them and tapping 'Translate'.
Telegram now shows you detailed pie charts for Wi-Fi and mobile data usage. You can also adjust your auto-download settings to suit your data plan.
The February 2023 update also adds the ability for Telegram users to auto-save incoming media to your gallery based on its size, type and which chat it was received from.
Other features that the latest update brings are -
- Granular media permissions: Admins can choose whether group members can send 9 distinct media types like photos, voice or video messages
- Selects chats for bots - Bot developers can add special buttons which help users select groups, channels or people that meet predefined criteria.
- New animated and interactive emojis - This update adds several hundred icons specially designed for group and profile pictures as well as new interactive versions of a handful of emojis.
