Rachin Ravindra, a prominent player of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has opted to exit the IPL. His departure marks the beginning of preparations for New Zealand's crucial Test tour to England. The announcement was made just prior to KKR's home face-off against Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens.

Picked by KKR at the IPL 2026 auction for Rs 2 crore, Ravindra did not play in any matches for the team this season. KKR elected to prioritize Cameroon Green as their primary all-rounder. Ravindra will now concentrate on intensive red-ball training ahead of his maiden Test tour to England.

The New Zealand squad plans to first play a four-day warm-up match against Ireland in Belfast from May 27. Subsequently, the team will engage in a critical three-match Test series against England at Lord's, The Oval, and Nottingham. Presently, New Zealand stands second in the World Test Championship standings, making this series essential for their aspirations.
