Chennai's disciplined bowling attack, led by Afghanistan's left-arm spinner Noor Ahmad, restricted Mumbai to 159 for seven.
Ahmad posted figures of 2/26 over four overs while Anshul Kamboj took 3/32, with Naman Dhir standing out for Mumbai, scoring 57 off 37 balls. After a sluggish strategy from Captain Hardik Pandya, CSK capitalized on the opportunity, especially under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored 67 not out.
Kartik Sharma provided robust support scoring 54 without losing his wicket. Despite early wobbles, CSK's chase was brightened by Sanju Samson's fiery start until falling to Jasprit Bumrah's impeccable delivery. Gaikwad and Sharma then completed the chase seamlessly.
