Mathis Albert: Youngest American Sensation in Bundesliga

Mathis Albert etched his name in football history as he debuted for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, becoming the youngest American to do so. At just 16 years, 11 months, and 5 days old, Albert's entrance in the 88th minute was in Dortmund's victorious 4-0 match against Freiburg.

The previous record was held by Gio Reyna, another Dortmund player, who debuted at 17 years, 2 months, and 5 days. Before Reyna, the record holder was Christian Pulisic, making his mark at 17 years, 4 months, and 12 days back in 2016.

Albert, hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, joined Dortmund's academy from LA Galaxy in 2024 and played in the U.S. team at the Under-17 World Cup last year. This substantial win ensures Dortmund's spot in next season's Champions League.
