Experienced Pakistan all-rounder Muhammad Nawaz has responded to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding his positive drug test during the recent T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Nawaz claims he did not knowingly consume banned substances.
A source from the PCB revealed that Nawaz explained his use of certain medicines for health reasons, denying any misuse of banned or recreational drugs. The ICC and PCB are actively investigating the case. Despite the allegations, Nawaz is currently allowed to play in the Pakistan Super League for Multan Sultans.
Should Nawaz's explanation not meet ICC standards, he risks a full ban from cricket. The incident follows Pakistan's worst doping scandal involving Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Akhtar in 2006. Other cricketers like Raza Hasan, Yasir Shah, and Ahmed Shehzad have also faced doping bans.
