The SG Pipers, seeking to improve after last year's unsatisfactory performance in the Hockey India League, have reshuffled their coaching staff. They have appointed Tim Oudenaller and Sofie Gierts as head coaches for the men's and women's teams, respectively. Oudenaller succeeds former India coach Graham Reid, while Gierts replaces Dave Smolenaars.
The Pipers ended their previous season at the bottom of the league, failing to secure any victories. However, they have retained the majority of their squad, with 17 out of 24 players staying, including Olympic medallist Shamsher Singh, and recruited Welsh player Jacob Draper.
Former Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh praised the new appointments, highlighting their international experience and ability to unify players from diverse backgrounds. He believes their expertise will be instrumental in achieving success for the team in the upcoming season.
