Dhoni Overtakes Raina as CSK's All-Time IPL Top Scorer

Former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has surpassed fellow franchise legend Suresh Raina by becoming the highest run-scorer for the team in Indian Premier League history.

The seasoned cricketer achieved this milestone during the eighth match of the 18th edition of IPL, which took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Dhoni's innings were marked by a remarkable 30 runs off just 16 balls, featuring three boundaries and two sixes, resulting in an astounding strike rate of 187.5.

With his exemplary performance, the 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman reached 4699 runs in 204 innings, thus overtaking Raina's previous record of 4687 runs scored in 171 innings for the Chennai-based franchise.

Recapping the IPL 2025 encounter, tight bowling from Royal Challengers Bangalore's Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal propelled the team to a 50-run victory over the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium, marking their first win at the venue since 2008. RCB now leads the points table with two wins. Rajat Patidar, for his outstanding batting performance, was named Player of the Match.
