Difficult Day at Hero Indian Open: Marcus Armitage Faces Tough Battle
Ajeetesh Sandhu excelled at the Hero Indian Open, tying for fourth with fellow Indian golfers. England's Marcus Armitage fell into a tie for the lead after struggles on the final hole. SSP Chawrasia made a notable comeback in challenging conditions, finishing even par despite early setbacks.

Ajeetesh Sandhu stood out as the leading Indian at T-4 in the Hero Indian Open, held on Thursday. Seven Indian golfers placed in the top 30 during a challenging opening day.
Sandhu and Veer Ahlawat, tied at T-4 and T-10 respectively, were highlighted by strong performances. Meanwhile, England's Marcus Armitage, previously in the lead, faced difficulties on the final hole, resulting in a three-way tie with Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts and Sweden's Marcus Kinhult.
Despite early setbacks, two-time Indian Open champion SSP Chawrasia made a remarkable comeback. Chawrasia, the last Indian to win the tournament in 2017, navigated challenging conditions to complete the day at even par, thanks to a series of birdies on the back nine.
