In a strong stand against racism, French soccer players and referees will don special badges during this weekend's Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches. These badges prominently feature the word 'Racism' crossed out, symbolizing a united front against discrimination, the soccer league (LFP) announced on Thursday.
LFP President Vincent Labrune emphasized the initiative, stating, 'Racism and antisemitism have no place on the pitch or in society. Together we are standing up for a fair, respectful, and united football.' The message will also be showcased on a giant tarpaulin at each game's center circle and on stadium advertising boards and giant screens.
After the matches, the jerseys will be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting three campaign groups dedicated to battling discrimination alongside the LFP.
