On Wednesday, Sanjay Seth, Minister of State for Defence, initiated two ambitious mountaineering expeditions targeting Mount Everest and Kangchenjunga. These expeditions aim to equip instructors with valuable firsthand 'Everest experience' to advance the training of future Indian mountaineers.
The Everest expedition features seven adept climbers from prominent Indian mountaineering institutes, led by Col Anshuman Bhadauria of the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. This journey, commemorating 60 years of NIM, follows the historic South Col Route, tackling the perilous Khumbu Valley.
Meanwhile, the Kangchenjunga team, managed by Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal of NIMAS, embarks on April 7. This challenge marks the final climb to conquer all Indian states' highest peaks, reflecting India's ascent in global adventure sports.
