Hyderabad's Naveen Pulligilla and Musa Sherif of Kasargod have created history by becoming the first all-Indian team to take part in the World Rally Championship (WRC). The duo recently competed in the renowned Safari Rally Kenya 2025 from March 20 to 23, achieving victory in the RC3 Kenyan National Rally Championship.

Driving a Ford Fiesta Rally3 for Africa Eco Motorsport, the pair led the WRC3 class with only two stages remaining, poised for a dream debut. However, their vehicle suffered mechanical issues, forcing them to withdraw. Despite this setback, they had already secured the RC3 class Kenyan Rally Championship title, which concluded after 19 stages. Naveen expressed awe at the challenging terrain and wildlife, making the event unforgettable and pledging a return in 2026 alongside future WRC rounds in Saudi Arabia and Sardinia.

Musa Sherif highlighted the grueling conditions and their determination, marking their place as WRC pioneers from India. Naveen, a veteran of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship, and Musa, a celebrated co-driver with 33 years and 10 national titles, underscored their partnership's significance. Previously, Indian drivers like Gaurav Gill competed with foreign co-drivers. The Safari Rally Kenya, with its harsh landscape and extreme conditions, saw the Indian team finish 19 of 21 stages, covering 383.10 km of competitive distance in a total of 1,381.92 km.
