India's Sunil Kumar has opened the nation's medal tally at the 2025 Senior Asian Championship in Amman, Jordan, with an impressive bronze medal in the Greco-Roman 87 kg category.

In an intense championship bout on Tuesday, Sunil Kumar showcased his wrestling skills by defeating China's Jiaxin Huang with a 3-1 victory in the bronze medal match. Earlier, he staged a remarkable comeback from the semifinals after losing to Iran's Yasin Ali Yazdi, who won 3-1.

The bronze adds to Sunil's impressive track record, marking his fifth medal in the Senior Asian Championships. He previously ended India's 27-year Greco-Roman gold drought in 2020. Other Indian athletes are still vying for medals, with upcoming matches for several Greco-Roman wrestlers and Olympians Reetika Hooda and Antim Panghal in the women's categories.
