In a revelation about his finishing strategies in IPL matches, former Indian captain MS Dhoni, known for his decisive role with Chennai Super Kings, has detailed his approach to maximizing runs per shot. Speaking to Jio Hostar, Dhoni explained how he assesses the scoreboard to determine his team's needs while aiming for maximum runs with every ball.
Dhoni, who is renowned for his pivotal performances in high-pressure situations, elaborated on his mindset. He stated, "When you go in to bat, you're primarily focused on hitting big shots, especially when there are wickets in hand, viewing a four as a mere by-product of attempting a six." He stressed the significance of the latter stages of games, where even a couple of extra runs can change outcomes in high-score contests.
Demonstrating his leadership and experience, Dhoni advises bowlers on the value of belief and confidence, urging them to focus on each ball regardless of boundaries conceded. At 43, Dhoni continues to play a critical role for the five-time champions, just 19 runs short of becoming the team's all-time leading IPL run-scorer, trailing only Suresh Raina's record of 4,687 runs.
