The Supreme Court started hearings on Tuesday regarding the finalization of the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) Constitution, a draft of which was prepared by former Supreme Court judge Justice L Nageswara Rao as directed by the court.

The bench, comprising Justices PS Narasimha and Joymalya Bagchi, is set to hear various pleas, including one filed by the Federation itself. Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna had previously recused himself from the case due to prior involvement in the Delhi High Court.

Senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, serving as amicus curiae, highlighted key objections to the draft constitution brought forth by members and former players, particularly regarding tenure limits and age restrictions. The bench will continue hearings on these issues next Wednesday, aiming for a comprehensive report by the end of July.
