MS Dhoni, India's World Cup-winning captain and Chennai Super Kings' key player, has shared his views on the Impact Player rule, introduced in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni believes the rule, while offering tactical flexibility, is not the primary reason for high-scoring matches, which he asserts are influenced by playing conditions and player comfort.

Speaking during 'The MSD Experience' on JioHotstar, Dhoni expressed that the rule wasn't necessary upon its introduction in 2023. While it provides advantages, it doesn't directly apply to him as a wicketkeeper-batsman. "I remain involved in the game, so I'm not an impact player," Dhoni commented.

Dhoni further elaborated on the evolution of T20 cricket, attributing increased scoring to the aggressive mindset supported by having an extra batter. He dismissed notions of rivalry against specific teams, focusing on consistent performance across all matches. "Winning, regardless of the opponent, is crucial," Dhoni emphasized, viewing rivalries as beneficial only for fan engagement in the IPL.
