Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav officially kicked off the 18th All India Police Shooting Sports Championship 2024 on Monday at Indore's Revati Shooting Range under the aegis of the Border Security Force (BSF).
Yadav highlighted the historical significance of shooting in India, remarking on the essential tests of mental concentration, physical efficiency, and restraint that the sport demands. He praised the capabilities of India's police and armed forces, noting that the participants represent the skilled hands shaping the nation's future.
Announcing a new initiative, the Chief Minister revealed a state-led program in partnership with BSF and Indore's district administration aimed at unearthing shooting talent from the Malwa region. These promising athletes will receive training at the BSF's Revati Shooting Range, preparing them for both national and international competitions. The championship, hosted by the BSF's Central School of Weapons and Tactics (CSWT), features over 600 participants from various police forces and runs across 17 categories, offering 68 gold, silver, and bronze medals.
