The Bombay Gymkhana buzzed with excitement on Monday as the Indian Open marked the return of international squash to India. The tournament opened with electrifying matches, with local player Tanvi Khanna shining amidst fierce competition.

The day began with a gripping match between Hong Kong's Helen Tang and Japan's Erisa Sano Herring, lasting 35 minutes, where Tang claimed victory with a 3-1 score. Indian hope Nirupama Dubey fell to Egypt's Nour Ramy after an intense 50-minute battle ending 3-2 in Ramy's favor.

Men's matches saw Colombian Matias Knudsen easily dispatching Malaysian opponent Mohammad Syafiq Kamal. Notably, Egypt's Ziad Ibrahim triumphed over Switzerland's David Bernet after an hour-long contest. Egyptian players continued to dominate throughout Day 1, winning six matches in total.
