B Sumeeth Reddy, a prominent figure in Indian badminton, has announced his retirement from professional play to dedicate himself to coaching. This transition marks the end of a notable career for the 33-year-old, who was part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medal-winning team.
Reddy, with his partner Manu Attri, reached a career-high world ranking of 17 and participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics. He shared his decision via Instagram, stating, 'RETIRED AND PROUD,' underscoring his gratitude and excitement for future endeavors.
Despite battling a spinal bone degeneration issue early in his career, Reddy persevered to become a cornerstone of India's badminton scene. Now, he channels his passion into coaching, aspiring to elevate India's status in global badminton through his academy and support of women's doubles players.
