The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday released the annual player contracts for India's women's cricket team for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Harmanpreet Kaur, captain across all formats, along with seasoned players Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma, lead the Grade A category, reflecting their consistent performances, according to the latest update on the ICC's official website.
Fast bowler Renuka Thakur, batter Jemimah Rodrigues, wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, and opening batter Shafali Verma have been categorized under 'Grade B'. Despite being removed from the white-ball squad following a disappointing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 showing in the UAE, Shafali maintains her contract status.
Players such as Yastika Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil, and others have been positioned in 'Grade C'. In a notable exclusion, several names, including Rajeshwari Gayakwad from Grade B, are missing from this year's contracts. They make way for newcomers like Shreyanka Patil and Titas Sadhu who have earned their spots.
The focus now shifts to upcoming matches, with India set to compete against Sri Lanka and South Africa in an ODI tri-nation series starting on April 27 in Sri Lanka. The team, as the ICC Women's Championship 2022-25 runners-up, is also gearing up for the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, which will be held at home later this year.
