In an unprecedented move, Guwahati will be hosting its first-ever Test match against South Africa this November, confirmed Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia on Monday.
The upcoming home season also includes a two-match Test series against the West Indies in October, which will be crucial for the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
Significantly, Guwahati has been chosen not only for the Test match against South Africa but also as a venue for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup games, marking a landmark occasion for the region.
