The Renault-owned Alpine Formula One team has strengthened its roster of reserve drivers by signing Indian Formula Two driver Kush Maini on Tuesday. This addition brings the team's reserve count to four, alongside Franco Colapinto from Argentina, Estonian Paul Aron, and Japan's Ryo Hirakawa.
With the current reserve count doubling the number of race drivers, Alpine strategically bolsters its talent pool. Colapinto already has a Formula One race experience with Williams and is anticipated as a potential future replacement for rookie Jack Doohan.
The team announced that Maini will play a crucial role by operating the driver-in-loop simulator at Alpine's Enstone factory and participating in their previous cars (TPC) testing program, aiming to enhance the team's competitiveness.
