New Zealand's preparation for the T20I series against Sri Lanka faces hurdles as injuries rule out main players. Wicketkeeper-batter Isabella Gaze, seamer Hayley Jensen, and batter Bella James are sidelined, according to ESPNcricinfo. Replacements include wicketkeeper-batter Polly Inglis, left-arm seamer Bree Illing, and all-rounder Flora Devonshire.
Despite injury setbacks, New Zealand secured a 2-0 whitewash against Sri Lanka in the preceding ODI series. Inglis and Illing marked their ODI debut with impressive performances, while Devonshire, though uncapped, has shown promise domestically. Head coach Ben Sawyer expressed confidence in the resilience of his team and praised the newcomers' performances.
The three-match T20 series kicks off on March 14 in Christchurch, with subsequent matches on March 16 and 18 in Christchurch and Dunedin, respectively. Squad announcements include a blend of experienced and fresh talents as New Zealand aims to continue their winning streak.
