Rajasthan Takes Leap with 'Open Gyms' in Panchayats

In a major push to promote sports among the youth, Rajasthan will open gyms in 3,500 gram panchayats housing over 5,000 people, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore announced in the Assembly on Monday.
The state government has expressed strong commitment to foster sports activities, with budget allocations in 2025-26 dedicated to sports infrastructure development. The initiative is aimed at encouraging youth participation in sports.
To further support this endeavor, several schemes by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department and Rajasthan State Sports Council are underway, focusing on constructing stadiums. Under the Major Dhyanchand Stadium Scheme, a matching fund, up to Rs one crore, is available for the phased development of sports stadiums in each state block.
