As the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 kicks off, Delhi Capitals have made their way to Vadodara. Captain Meg Lanning and Coach Jonathan Batty held a virtual press conference, discussing the team's journey and readiness for the competition. Lanning, who led her squad to the finals in the first two editions, shared her thoughts on maintaining consistency to bring home the title. 'We've had two good seasons, but unfortunately not the title. We're sticking to our gameplay, making minor tweaks for improvement,' Lanning remarked. Echoing her sentiment, Batty highlighted the growth of domestic talents through regular off-season camps.

Lanning addressed the transformative impact of WPL on women's cricket, stating, 'The league significantly boosts both international and local players. Watching them evolve and seize opportunities has been rewarding.' Batty further complimented young Indian players, acknowledging their fierce competition against seasoned players. 'Signing top-tier talents like Niki reflects our ambition. The determination from young Indians is noteworthy,' Batty commented.

Delhi Capitals are slated to face Mumbai Indians in their opening match on February 15, followed by fixtures against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on February 17 and UP Warriorz on February 19. Lanning discussed pre-season prep in Pune, emphasizing the importance of practice games leading up to the tournament. 'Our preparations have been robust; the team is excited and ready for the challenge ahead,' she concluded.
