Supreme Strikes: Hyderabad Cricket Association Clash Heads to Chief Justice

The Supreme Court has escalated the ongoing conflict within the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) by referring it to Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna. This decision aims to align it with a related case concerning the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Justices Vikram Nath and Satish Chandra Sharma acknowledged arguments presented by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi regarding potential conflicts between the HCA's case and other proceedings. Central to the matter is the controversy over the appointment of an ombudsman and ethics officer by the HCA's apex council, seen as unconstitutional.

After being suspended by a Hyderabad civil court, these appointments were reinstated by the Telangana High Court, leading the HCA to approach the Supreme Court. Amidst this, constitutional amendments proposed for the HCA ignited debates among stakeholders, given the differences with BCCI regulations. As the Supreme Court provisionally approved these changes, further discussions with involved parties are expected before final decisions are made.
