West Ham forward Michail Antonio reached out to fans on Tuesday, sharing optimism and gratitude following his discharge from the hospital after a car crash earlier last month.
Antonio, a 34-year-old Jamaica international, required surgery for a lower limb fracture sustained in the accident near London on December 7 and now faces an extensive rehabilitation period.
Expressing thankfulness, Antonio wrote, "Every year around this time, I struggle to find what I'm grateful for, but this year it's easy: being alive." The crash's outcome was deemed a "miracle" by West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui. Antonio acknowledged the efforts of emergency services and West Ham United FC in his recovery.
