India's national women's football team, guided by their newly-appointed Swedish coach Joakim Alexandersson, celebrated a historic victory as they defeated the Maldives 14-0 at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence. This match, the first of two friendlies, showcased the Blue Tigresses' remarkable offensive prowess as they dominated the field.

Eight debutants took to the pitch, and three of them shone in the attack, contributing to India's overwhelming win. Star players Pyari Xaxa and debutant Lynda Kom Serto scored hat-tricks, with Neha and Kajol Dsouza each securing two goals. Additional goals from Sangita Basfore, Sorokhaibam Ranjana Chanu, and Rimpa Haldar underscored the team's depth and talent.

The match was one of the biggest-ever victories for the Blue Tigresses, rivaling their 18-0 win over Bhutan in 2010. The action started early, with Xaxa and Kom Serto setting the tone for a relentless offensive display. Despite a commanding halftime lead, India continued their dominant form in the second half, concluding a successful year with a perfect performance.
