India's cricket captain Rohit Sharma has urged the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to offer clarity concerning Mohammed Shami's fitness before he is considered for the Border Gavaskar series. Rohit's comments come as Shami returns from injuries sustained in prior tournaments.
Following his recovery from an ankle injury that required surgery, Shami's comeback efforts were hampered by knee swelling during domestic matches. Despite being named in Bengal's squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, doubts remain about his readiness for international tests.
Rohit emphasized the importance of avoiding any risks, stating that Shami would only confirm his place on the squad if given a clean bill of health by the NCA. The BCCI has acknowledged Shami's own reservations about playing long-form cricket until he fully regains his stamina.
