India is on the brink of hosting its first-ever Kho Kho World Cup, marking a significant milestone in the sport's history. MS Tyagi, General Secretary of the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), expressed his optimism, noting that the event is pivotal for increasing the sport's popularity in the nation.

Tyagi's extensive career in coaching includes key roles in both Kho Kho and Kabaddi's international stages. He coached India's Kabaddi team in their first international competition in 1985 and was involved in Kho Kho demonstrations from 1982 to 1985. Tyagi served as the national coach until 1990 and was later appointed as a Project Officer, overseeing preparations for Indian teams until his retirement in 2013.

Joining the KKFI in 2017, Tyagi expressed gratitude for the leadership of KKFI President Sudhanshu Mittal, crediting him for accelerating the sport's development. Tyagi also praised the franchise-based model of tournaments like UKKL, noting its financial benefits for players, and highlighted the KKFI's Sports Science Program for enhancing players' understanding of their performance.
