In a significant move ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, former Indian pacer and 2011 World Cup winner Munaf Patel has been designated as the new bowling coach for the Delhi Capitals. He is set to collaborate with head coach Hemang Badani and cricket director Venugopal Rao in the franchise's refreshed coaching lineup.
This marks Munaf Patel's first prominent coaching role following his retirement from competitive cricket in 2018. Munaf, who amassed 86 international caps between 2006 and 2011, has been a regular in competitive events featuring ex-international stars. During his IPL playing tenure, he represented Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Lions, clinching the IPL title with Mumbai in 2013.
Delhi Capitals have decisively retained key players like Axar Patel for Rs 16.5 crore, Kuldeep Yadav at Rs 13.25 crore, Tristan Stubbs with Rs 10 crore, and uncapped Abhishek Porel for Rs 4 crore. With a budget of Rs 73 crore, DC aims to enhance its roster as part of their ambitious maiden title bid and will participate in the mega auction, scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah.
