The International Cricket Council (ICC) is actively in discussions with participating nations regarding the Champions Trophy schedule, amid rising uncertainty stemming from India's refusal to travel to Pakistan. This development has prompted speculation about relocating the tournament outside of Pakistan, with South Africa emerging as a potential host.
Despite media reports, insiders suggest that relocating the tournament to South Africa is not currently under serious consideration by the ICC. The uncertainty has resulted in the postponement of the tournament's launch event, initially slated for November 11 in Lahore.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has insisted that security is not a concern, pointing to successful recent series against England and New Zealand. However, the ICC is still deliberating on the schedule and has yet to provide a response to the PCB's request for written confirmation regarding India's hesitance to travel.
