In a gripping encounter, the Indian women's hockey team secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over South Korea in the Asian Champions Trophy on Tuesday. This marks India's second consecutive win in the tournament, having defeated Malaysia earlier.
India took a promising 2-0 lead with early goals by Sangita Kumari in the third minute and Deepika in the 20th minute. However, South Korea launched a strong third-quarter comeback, leveling the score with goals from Yuri Lee in the 34th minute and captain Eunbi Cheon in the 38th minute.
The closely contested match saw its decisive moment when Deepika scored from the penalty spot in the 57th minute, sealing the victory for India. The hosts are set to face Thailand in their next game, while other matches saw Thailand and Japan drawing 1-1, and China defeating Malaysia 5-0 for their own second victory.
