Cricket Diplomacy: PCB's Quest for ICC Clarification Amid India-Pakistan Standoff
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested clarification from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding India's refusal to visit Pakistan for next year's Champions Trophy due to political tensions. India's participation is vital for the event's success, and PCB might withdraw if the tournament relocates.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially sought clarity from the International Cricket Council (ICC) after India declined to cross the border for the upcoming Champions Trophy, a PCB representative confirmed on Tuesday.
Since 2008, India has refrained from touring Pakistan because of deteriorating political relations. The last major event hosted by Pakistan was the Asia Cup, but India played all their fixtures in Sri Lanka using a 'hybrid model.'
Despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) standing firm on its decision, cited from governmental advice, the PCB is waiting for guidance from their government following ICC correspondence, as both cricket boards engage with the ICC over potential tournament disruptions.
