The Haryana Steelers have emerged as formidable contenders in the 11th season of the Pro Kabaddi League, clinching five victories in their first seven matches held in Hyderabad. Following a runner-up finish last season, the JSW Sports-backed team entered this campaign with a revamped squad, attracting significant attention. Guided by the strategic prowess of head coach Manpreet Singh, the Steelers have demonstrated commendable defensive tactics and resilience, securing closely-fought victories in tense encounters. As a result, they concluded the Hyderabad leg in fourth place and propelled themselves to third with a commanding 39-23 win over the Gujarat Giants as the Noida leg commenced on Sunday.
Iranian allrounder Mohammadreza Shadloui emerged as a standout performer, accumulating 18 raid points and 22 tackle points over seven matches. Complementing him in the raiding department, Shivam Patare has been pivotal, amassing 31 raid points. Reflecting on the team's progress, Coach Manpreet Singh acknowledged areas needing improvement while highlighting the players' continuous commitment to refining their game. "The team has delivered impressive performances in Hyderabad, and our current form is promising," remarked Singh. "We have identified our winning blend of players, which will be advantageous for the Noida leg."
Team captain Jaideep Dahiya emphasized the readiness and unity of the squad, stating, "We are well-prepared this season with a robust team. Our focus remains on winning all our matches and ascending the league standings." Dahiya underscored their collective resolve to maintain composure and momentum, with players supporting each other irrespective of seniority. The Haryana Steelers are slated to face U Mumba next at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Monday.
