Ruben Amorim, Manchester United's newly appointed head coach, is under no illusions about the challenges awaiting him in the Premier League. Leaving his position at Sporting in Portugal, Amorim, 39, will embark on his new journey at one of England's top clubs as announced earlier this month and is set to start his contract on Monday, lasting until June 2027.

The Portuguese coach, who succeeds the dismissed Erik ten Hag, completed his tenure at Sporting with a 4-2 victory over Braga. "I feel ready for the new challenge," Amorim stated after the match. He acknowledged the difficulty ahead, emphasizing his readiness to face new pressures and opportunities.

United ranks 13th in the Premier League, with interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy having achieved some stability after Ten Hag's departure. Amorim, twice a Primeira Liga winner, is slated to take charge of his first match on November 24 against Ipswich Town. "I apologize for this mid-season move, but the timing felt right," Amorim noted.
