In the aftermath of India's cricket team's recent defeat against New Zealand, head coach Gautam Gambhir finds himself under significant scrutiny on social media. Nonetheless, the former India opener remains steadfast amid the criticism, underscoring that his eminent position necessitates unwavering honesty. Addressing the matter, Gambhir asserted, "What difference does social media make in my life, and for anyone's life? When I took up this job, I always knew that it was going to be a highly difficult job and a highly prestigious job as well. I don't think as if I'm feeling the heat because my job is to be absolutely honest."
Gambhir further lauded the Indian team's perseverance and commitment, expressing pride in coaching a squad filled with determined individuals. "There are some incredibly tough people in that dressing room who have achieved some great things for the country and will continue to achieve some great things for the country. So it's an absolute honour to be coaching them and coaching India," he remarked during a press conference on Monday.
Despite the setbacks, Gambhir remains focused on steering the team through challenges and maintaining their quest for international success. With India's troubling loss to New Zealand on home soil, advancing to the World Test Championship (WTC) final has become increasingly challenging.
Following a 3-0 series whitewash, India must secure a 4-0 series victory to qualify for the WTC final in London for the third consecutive time. After opening the series in Perth, the second Test will be a day-night encounter at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10. Fans will then shift their attention to Brisbane's Gabba for the third Test from December 14 to 18.
The traditional Boxing Day Test will take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, leading up to the series finale at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7, setting the stage for an exhilarating conclusion to the much-anticipated series.
