In a riveting semi-final clash at the Korea Masters 2024, Indian shuttler Kiran George demonstrated grit and skill but eventually succumbed to the prowess of Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the world champion from Thailand. The match on Saturday in Iksan was a true test for the 24-year-old Indian, ranked 41st globally, as he faced the formidable world No. 5 opponent.

The contest kicked off with both players tied at 5-5, until Vitidsarn launched a pivotal four-point streak that led him to seize control, winning the first game 21-12. The second game began similarly, with the score briefly standing evenly at 4-4 before Vitidsarn surged ahead to 13-4, appearing set for an easy win. Yet, George, in his first semi-final of the 2024 season, mounted a remarkable comeback, equalizing at 20-20. Despite his valiant efforts, Vitidsarn edged out George 21-20, securing a place in the final.

Throughout the tournament, George's talent was on full display, with noteworthy victories against fifth-seed Takuma Obayashi of Japan and third-seed Chi Yu Jen of Chinese Taipei. This semi-final journey marked a significant milestone for the unseeded Indian player at the BWF Super 300 event. Despite this being George's second loss to Vitidsarn in three meetings, his run at the Korea Masters 2024 underscored his resilience and potential on the world stage.
