Indian badminton players Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Ayush Shetty made impressive strides into the second round of the Hylo Open 2024, held in Saarbrucken, Germany. The duo showcased exceptional skill and determination in their respective matches on Wednesday, securing their spots in the tournament's next stage.

Sathish Kumar, seeded seventh in the BWF Super 300 series, rallied from a set down to beat compatriot Chirag Sen with scores of 20-22, 24-22, 21-17 in a challenging one-hour-three-minute encounter. His next opponent, England's Harry Huang, advanced by defeating the former junior world No. 1, Sankar Subramanian.

Ayush Shetty, fresh off a bronze win at last year's Junior World Championships, dispatched Finland's Joakim Oldorff 21-12, 21-17. The young talent is set to face Italy's Giovanni Toti in the round of 16. Meanwhile, in the women's singles, Malvika Bansod, seeded sixth, prepares to challenge Denmark's Irina Amalie Andersen.
