Ashlyn Krueger Steps In for Jessica Pegula at Billie Jean King Cup Finals
Jessica Pegula has withdrawn from the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Spain, and Ashlyn Krueger will replace her in the U.S. team. The USTA has not disclosed the reason for Pegula's withdrawal. The U.S. team faces Slovakia in the first round on November 15.
Jessica Pegula, currently ranked sixth in the world, will not participate in next month's Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Spain, the United States Tennis Association announced on Wednesday. In her place, Ashlyn Krueger has been chosen to join the American team.
Pegula's decision to pull out leaves questions unanswered, as the USTA has not responded to inquiries from Reuters regarding her withdrawal. Previously set as the highest-ranked player on the team, Pegula recently qualified for the WTA Finals in Riyadh, set for early November.
The U.S. team, now composed of Krueger alongside Danielle Collins, Peyton Stearns, Taylor Townsend, and Caroline Dolehide, will face Slovakia on November 15 with aims to advance to the quarter-finals against Australia.
